Your College Basketball Update
College basketball makes a return
College basketball is finally back.
One of America’s favorite pastimes is here, but due to the impact of COVID-19, we were not able to get the full experience from the 2019-2020 basketball season.
March Madness, which is said to be the most heart-racing part of the entire season, was cancelled. All fans were upset no matter who they were going to cheer on.
This was the first time in 82 years the NCAA tournament didn’t happen. That was so long ago everyday items such as the colored-tv, microwave, and velcro had not even been invented.
Fans across the nation are excited to watch their favorite teams in this 2020-2021 season, and we have local updates for you right here.
Starting off we have the Tar Heels of The University of North Carolina, taking on the Hawkeyes from The University of Iowa.
The Tarheels came into this game with a chip on their shoulder after losing to Texas in the Maui Invitational Final. Iowa was looking to continue their undefeated streak.
Both teams started off going back and forth hitting their shots, but the Hawkeyes quickly took over, taking a 12-point lead going into the half. The Tarheels tried to answer back but came up short with Iowa on top 93-80, keeping their undefeated streak alive.
Next up the Blue Devils of Duke University took on the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois. Both teams were ranked top 10 in the nation going into this game.
From the jump you could see Illinois did not come to play— going up 43-29, heading to half time. Duke just could not find their groove and ended up losing 83-68.
Finally, we have the Pirates of East Carolina University taking on the Seahawks from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The Pirates were undefeated going into this game. At the half, the Pirates headed into the locker room leading 51-37.
ECU ended up keeping that lead winning the game 88-78, keeping their blazing streak alive.
