Raleigh Rescue Mission

There are many ways to serve your community during the holiday season.

As the holiday season approaches, many people may seek to spread some holiday cheer by helping those less fortunate. Whether you want to donate your time or money this holiday season, there are plenty of opportunities in the Triangle to express your gratitude and give back to the community.

Meals on Wheels

By volunteering at your local Meals on Wheels, you are delivering food to at least eight different seniors or people with disabilities. This opportunity is great for people with busy schedules who still want to do a tremendous amount of good. You’re not only delivering a nutritious meal, you are also providing the person with a friendly check up. Signing up to volunteer is as easy as filling out the application form and picking up your meals at a designated location.

Adopt an Angel

If you’re looking to make a child’s Christmas wish come true, participate in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. This organization gives you the opportunity to provide a thoughtful present for a specific child in need. By going to one of their numerous Angel Tree locations, including Crabtree Valley Mall and Triangle Towne Center, you can select an Angel and purchase their new toys and clothes. You can even pick your Angel from the comfort of your own home by doing it online. Once you’ve dropped off                                                                                       your donation to a designated location, the Angel’s family can pick them up.

Christmas Meal Host

Raleigh Rescue Mission offers a holiday meal host program giving groups a chance to host a Christmas meal for the less fortunate. This is a great program if you’re looking for a group volunteer opportunity as opposed to an individual one. As a Meal Host, you are responsible for cooking and serving the food. This may seem like hard work, but provide food to men, women, and children of the community is a task worth doing.
