All I want for Christmas is a December birthday

Cheer is in the air during the month of December. Holidays, glittering decorations, and the constant streaming of Elf have brought out a lively demeanor in even the most Scrooge-like people. For those born in December, the constant repetition of “Oh, you must hate your birthday” rings as loudly as silver bells. I’m here to tell you that celebrating a birthday in December is one of the greatest experiences one can have, for a variety of reasons:

Bigger, better gifts: Unless you’ve been very well behaved this past year, Santa probably can’t afford to get you the iPhone XS. However, combining your birthday and holiday presents will allow you to ask for more expensive gifts like trips to Hawaii and front row tickets to Hamilton.

Peppermint everything: It’s not the officially the holiday season until all of your favorite restaurants release their seasonal drinks and desserts. You can enjoy Chick-fil-A’s peppermint chocolate chip milkshake or devour The Cheesecake Factory’s peppermint bark cheesecake on your birthday. In addition, it is more acceptable to waste hundreds of dollars and calories on these treats in the days leading up to and following a birthday.

Country-wide celebrations: The bright lights, colorful decorations, and lively music fills every street throughout December, making a standard birthday even more special. The whole country is already in celebration mode—whether for Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa—creating the perfect atmosphere to celebrate yourself and a whole year’s worth of your accomplishments.
